Question 159: Is it Allowed to pray behind the Mut'assibeen (the fanatically bigoted ones) from the people of the Four Madhdhabs?
If their Ta'ssub (fanatical bigotry) does not lead them to reject a Quranic Aayah or a Prophetic Hadeeth whilst having knowledge of that, then there is no harm in praying behind them. If it is the case that they reject a Quranic Aayah or a Prophetic Hadeeth based upon Ta'ssub to their Madhdhab whilst they know that then it is not permissible to follow nor to pray behind them. And we advise Ahlus-Sunnah to make yourself distinct and build a masjid for yourself, even if it is from adobes or dried date-palm leaves. For indeed they will not be able to spread the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah - Õáì Çááå Úáíå æÚáì Âáå æÓáã - except with Tamyeez (to make yourself distinct) if not then theMubtadi'ah (the innovators) will never leave them to spread the Sunnah.
